Lead Researcher

During the summer of 2024, I had the privilege of working at WhaleTeq, a professional test solution provider dedicated to revolutionizing the validation and verification process for medical devices. During my time there, I contributed to three key projects: rebranding the company's website, prototyping the user interface for an upcoming product, and conducting sales research.

Rebranding

Collaborating closely with the marketing team, I took the lead in identifying design flaws on the website. I then developed prototypes for an improved design aimed at enhancing user engagement and ensuring a more seamless and comfortable user experience. Alongside with this, I also created the company style guide for future design use.

Designing

Working with the R&D team, I designed wireframes and prototypes for the user interface of an upcoming product focused on patient monitors.

BPA700

As a side project, I took the initiative to analyze the sales performance of one of the company’s products, the BPA700. I conducted interviews with the entire sales team to gather insights into the product’s performance across different regions and understand customer feedback. Using the information collected, I created a data visualization and proposed actionable recommendations to enhance the sales and market reach of the BPA700.

Takeaways

My time at WhaleTeq was incredibly rewarding. Not only did I gain valuable insights into medical devices and manufacturing, but I also had the opportunity to collaborate closely with diverse teams, including Project Managers, Sales, and R&D.

A few key lessons I learned include:

  • Adaptability in Decision-Making: Due to tight timelines and unforeseen challenges, I had to make quick decisions and adapt processes, sometimes deviating from standard UI/UX practices.

  • The Importance of Communication: Effective communication with cross-functional teams proved critical, and I learned to confidently share my ideas and perspectives.

  • Balancing Perspectives: I developed the ability to consider differing opinions and make well-informed decisions that align with project goals.

This experience not only enhanced my technical and collaboration skills but also reinforced my confidence in navigating complex projects.
