AI Image Training

I compiled over 1k images of animal and human eyes for image training through AI. With more experimentation, three out of the six videos resulted from image training were put through more training with having one eye referencing for different effects. This resulted in three of the eye videos to have a less realistic finish such as stronger colors or more abstract shapes. Combining animal and human eyes created more variations of imagery.

Eye Box

I designed six different box borders revolving around the eye motif. I first drew each by hand and transferred the designs into Adobe Illustrator in preparation for laser cutting. The wooden boxes, 12" x 12" x 6", were cut from MDF wood for the smooth surface. Throughout two weeks of repeated spray painting and sanding, the boxes were prepared for installation.

The Solution

To only project each individual eye video on their designated wooden box, I used projection mapping. The overall installation was about 6'x 12' with majority of the boxes slightly above average eye level for optimized viewing. Screws were drilled into the walls with precision in order to hang each box. Three of the videos repeated every minute while the others repeated every 30 seconds. This allowed different variations at different viewing times.
